What happens in a complete overhaul
Incoming inspection
Every keg is inspected individually. What counts is the neck and the neck thread – if both are straight and undamaged, the keg goes into the process.
Internal cleaning
Caustic, acid, rinse and sterilisation, run through the spear with the keg inverted. Beer stone and deposits are removed completely.
Straightening
The top and bottom chime are straightened and the stacking foot is restored. That puts the keg back through the line cleanly.
Repair the spear
Seals and springs are replaced, the spear tested or renewed. The circlip is new as a matter of course.
Pressure test
Every keg is tested for leaks. Whatever fails does not go back into circulation.
Surface and marking
On request we remove the old marking and apply the new one.
Report
You get documentation of what was tested and what was replaced.
What an overhauled keg costs
Considerably less than a new one. For comparison: a factory-new keg of the same shape is publicly listed from around 83 € net. The current price for a reconditioned keg is in the shop; small quantities go straight through it, larger quantities we quote on request.
If you already own kegs, refurbishment alone is considerably cheaper again – you then pay only for the work and keep the substance. For refurbishing your own kegs.
